Fiber Optic Equipment FTTH OLT (Optical Line Terminal) is a crucial piece of equipment used in Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks. FTTH networks deliver internet access directly to homes and businesses using fiber optic cables. An OLT is located at the service provider's central office or data center. It acts as the central hub for the FTTH network, aggregating data traffic from multiple subscribers (homes and businesses) and converting electrical signals from these subscribers into optical signals for transmission over fiber optic cables. FTTH OLTs also perform various network management functions. There are two main types of FTTH OLTs: EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) OLTs: These OLTs use the EPON standard, which is capable of delivering data rates of up to 10 Gbps downstream and 1 Gbps upstream. GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) OLTs: These OLTs use the GPON standard, which is capable of delivering higher data rates of up to 2.5 Gbps downstream and 1.25 Gbps upstream.
